Ratio to Percentage Calculator
A ratio can turn into two different percentages. This tool shows both, clearly labelled.
Exact result
75%
A compared with B — how big the first part is relative to the second
Share of the whole
Each part measured against the total of 7 parts.
first part
second part
- first part share
- 42.86%
- second part share
- 57.14%
Both answers, side by side
- Compared with B: first ÷ second × 100 = 75%.
- Compared with A: second ÷ first × 100 = 133.33%.
- Share of the whole: 42.86% and 57.14%.
These answer different questions. “Compared with B” measures one part against another part. “Share of the whole” measures each part against the total of all parts.
Two questions, two answers
For 3:4, the first part compared with the second is 75%, because 3 ÷ 4 = 0.75. But the first part's share of the whole is 42.86%, because there are seven parts in total. Both are correct; they answer different questions, which is why SnapRatios never shows just one.
