1.Introduction
What this policy covers and who it applies to.
1.1What SnapRatios is
SnapRatios is a set of ratio and proportion calculators. No account is required and no sign-in exists, so there is no user profile associated with your use of the site.
1.2Scope
This policy applies to the pages served on this website. It does not cover any third-party site you reach by following a link.
2.Calculator data
The numbers you type stay in your browser.
Every calculation runs in your browser using code delivered with the page. The numbers you type are not transmitted to us, not written to a server, not stored in a database and not included in any measurement event. SnapRatios operates no application database and no user accounts.
3.Cookies and similar browser technologies
One consent preference in local storage, plus Google Analytics storage only if you accept it.
3.1Essential
No cookie is required to serve a page. When you make a privacy choice, SnapRatios stores a single entry in your browser’s local storage under the key snapratios.consent.v1. It records only whether analytics was accepted or rejected, the record version and the date of your choice. It contains no identifier and is read again for up to 365 days, after which the choice is asked again. It stays in your browser and is never sent to us.
3.2Optional analytics storage
If — and only if — you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 may set its own cookies or similar browser storage to distinguish browsers and sessions. If you reject, or before you choose, Google’s analytics storage is set to denied through Google Consent Mode v2, and no analytics cookie or similar storage is written. Denied storage is not the same as no contact with Google: see section 4.4.
3.3What is never set
No advertising cookie, no advertising identifier and no cross-site profiling technology is used. Advertising consent signals (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) are denied at all times in this implementation and are never granted.
4.Analytics
Google Analytics 4, optional and consent-controlled.
4.1Provider and purpose
SnapRatios uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-M10998V6TR), provided by Google, to understand how the site is used and to improve it. Full analytics measurement is optional and happens only if you accept; if you reject, Google’s tag still loads and sends a limited cookieless signal, as described in section 4.4.
4.2What Google Analytics may process
Where analytics is active, the categories of information involved are:
- pages viewed and the order in which they were viewed;
- approximate geographic information derived from network information such as your IP address;
- device and browser information, including screen and language settings;
- interaction information, such as which calculator was used;
- referral and source information, such as the site or search that brought you here.
This information can distinguish browsers and devices and is therefore not described here as anonymous. It is not combined by us with any other data, because we hold none.
4.3Google as processor and international transfer
Analytics information is processed by Google under Google’s own terms and privacy framework. That processing may involve Google infrastructure or recipients outside your country, including outside the EEA, in which case Google’s applicable transfer safeguards apply. Google’s account-level data retention setting is configured in the Google Analytics property, not in this website’s code.
4.4Your consent choice
Before you choose, all Google consent signals are set to denied. Accepting analytics sets analytics_storage to granted; rejecting keeps it denied. You can change your mind at any time using Privacy choices in the footer; disabling analytics immediately returns analytics_storage to denied. Withdrawal stops further measurement with storage, but it does not retroactively delete information Google has already processed. The site is fully usable either way — nothing is gated behind a consent choice.
To be precise about what “denied” means: Google’s tag file is requested from Google when the page loads, so Google’s servers receive the ordinary request data that any file download involves, including your IP address and browser user agent. With consent denied, Google Consent Mode v2 also sends cookieless signals to Google that carry the denied consent state together with basic technical context such as page address, referrer, screen size and language. These signals do not read or write analytics storage and do not create a persistent identifier for you, but they are requests to Google. We therefore do not claim that nothing is sent to Google before you accept. Accepting analytics enables the full, storage-based measurement described in section 4.2.
5.Technical and server data
Standard hosting request logs, kept by our host.
Our hosting provider records ordinary web-server request data such as IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp and response status, for security, abuse prevention and reliability. If a page fails to render, the error message and stack trace are written to those same server logs. Those logs are not combined with calculator inputs, because calculator inputs never reach the server.
6.Third-party services
Fonts and styles are self-hosted; Google Analytics is the only third party.
Pages load their fonts, styles, images and icons from this site’s own domain. There is no advertising network, no tag manager, no social widget and no embedded third-party content. Google is the only third party involved: its analytics tag is loaded on every page, and it performs full, storage-based measurement only after you accept analytics — see sections 4.1 and 4.4 for what it does before that. If you choose to follow an external link, the destination site will receive your request under its own privacy practices.
7.Retention
Host logs, one local consent record, and Google-side analytics retention.
Because we hold no accounts, no database and no calculator inputs, there is no personal data set for us to retain. Hosting request logs may be retained by our hosting provider for operational and security purposes. The provider controls the applicable retention period, which is not determined by SnapRatios.
Your consent record stays in your own browser and is honoured for up to 365 days, or until you clear your browser storage. Where analytics is active, Google retains analytics data according to the retention setting of the Google Analytics property, which is configured in Google’s administration interface rather than in this website’s code.
8.International processing
Hosting is distributed; analytics may be processed by Google outside your country.
The site is served from a distributed hosting network, so the server that answers your request, and the request log it writes, may be located outside your country. Where you have accepted analytics, Google may process that information on infrastructure outside your country or the EEA under its own transfer safeguards.
9.Your privacy rights
Rights exist; we hold almost nothing, and consent can be withdrawn at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to withdraw consent. Because we do not hold accounts, profiles or your calculator inputs, in practice there is normally no personal data of yours for us to produce or delete; analytics information is held by Google as described above. You can withdraw analytics consent at any time through Privacy choices in the footer, and can contact us with any request or complaint using the address in section 12.
10.Children
Safe for classroom use; nothing is collected from anyone.
The site is a general-audience mathematical reference. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, and it requires no registration to use.
11.Security
Served over HTTPS, with a deliberately small attack surface.
Pages are served over encrypted HTTPS connections. Holding no accounts, no payment data and no stored user input keeps the amount of information that could be exposed to a minimum.
12.Changes to this policy and contact
Updated before any change in data handling takes effect.
If the way the site handles data changes — for example if a new measurement or advertising technology is introduced — this policy is updated first, and the version and date shown at the top of this page change with it. For any data question, contact snapratios@gmail.com.
